DeHood

Profile: DeHood is a location based social network (LBSN) that brings neighborhoods closer together through the people, places, and issues affecting local communities. DeHood allows consumers to share local “buzz,” which might be information on local events, traffic, street parties, government, crime, or any other issue that might be relevant to a specific neighborhood. These buzz updates can then be shared on a user’s Facebook wall. Similar to LBSNs like Foursquare and Gowalla, DeHood allows consumers to check in from specific locations and connect with other local community members and consumers. The unique value for users however, lies in the neighborhood-centric approach of the DeHood platform and the ability to access relevant news and information on the people, places, and events in the places consumers live rather than simply the places they visit.
