Loopt Brings Real-Time Rewards Alerts to SXSW
The location-based service Loopt is introducing a new feature that will alert users of nearby deals or rewards, and it’s launching at SXSW Interactive. The feature, called Rewards Alerts, combines elements of the Loopt Rewards system with the app’s proximity alerts. The concept behind Reward Alerts is to keep users abreast of flash deals taking place in their general vicinity.
Loopt Brings Users Closer to Facebook Friends
Loopt, an early leader in location-based services, today announced it has integrated Facebook Places into its mobile check-in application. The application is available for iPhone and iPod touch.
About Loopt
Profile: Loopt is a location-based social mapping service that helps users discover the people, places, and events around them. The primary value for consumers is the ability to share one’s location with friends. Loopt allows users to either manually check in at a specific location or let Loopt continuously update their location. Users can then post photos, tips, and reviews for the places they visit and share that information across other social networking platforms. By connecting with their friends on the Loopt network, users can track and comment on their friends’ status updates and easily send SMS texts or place calls to those friends. Loopt integrates content from CitySearch, Bing, TastingTable, Zagat and more to provide users with even greater information on the places and events around them.
Loopt Star (currently available for the iPhone and iPod Touch in the U.S. only) incorporates gaming elements that allow users to earn rewards based on their check-ins and activities. Users can then compare their performance to the Loopt community on the Loopt Star leaderboard.
Loopt Mix (currently available for the iPhone and iPod touch only) facilitates introductions between individual Loopt users. By browsing the profiles and activities of other individuals in the Loopt network, users can meet and communicate with the people around them that share similar interests.
Promotional Mechanisms: Loopt allows businesses to push targeted advertisements to users based on their geographic location. For example, users in the vicinity of a large department store may be offered a discount or other incentive in exchange for a specific consumer action, such as a check-in. Loopt also provides access to consumer data and the ability to monitor consumer activity at each location. Loopt Star allows businesses to create interactive challenges that reward consumers for specific acts of brand engagement.
